Personal Biography:
The father of Claire Roche was and Elko cattle rancher named W. H. Roche. By the age of 19, Claire was employed as a driver for an Ely local butcher shop. In 1912, Claire was working for the Ely Packing Company. In 1918 he was serving his country: CPL Co E 18th Inf Calif 1st Div WWI. Mrs. Van Dolson, of Ruth, Nevada, was so proud of the service of the local boys, she created a large flag made of heavy silk and embroidered a star for each boy in the service. Claire Roche had a star on her flag. By 1920, he was living in Peachtree, California working as a laborer on a farm. He married Agnes Elford Roche.
When he passed away on May 11, 1959, his wife Agnes left Ruth, Nevada with their daughters Barbara and Georgia and moved to Sacramento where Agnes was employed as a teacher.
