Clark Oldfield was hired by the NNRy in 1916 as a telegraph operator. The following year he joined the armed forces with Agent Warren Hull causing the railroad to close the night telegraph service on August 12, 1917. Mr. Oldfield was promoted to dispatcher in 1940. In 1946 he was recognized for 30 years of service. By 1951 he was promoted to assistant superintendent.

Personal Biography:
Clark was born to Joseph and Laura Oldfield in Osceola, Nevada. He had three brothers and two sisters. His brother Fred would be a White Pine County Clerk. He graduated from White Pine High School in 1913. During his time in school he enjoyed playing football, baseball and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He married Thelma Oldfield and the couple would have two daughters, Shirley and Rebecca. He served in the armed forces during World War I, being stationed at Camp Lewis in the artillery branch. He was honorably discharged March 16, 1919 and returned to Ely. In 1921 he was elected to the Ely City Council for the First Ward. Clark passed away on June 20, 1964 in Gresham, Oregon and was buried in Ely.
