The 1930 census shows Thomas Lake as 39 years old and employed as a machinist for the NNRy. He lived with his family at 106 11th Street. His wife Rose, 30, and children Kenneth 17 from a previous marriage, Patricia J. 2, and stepdaughter Geraldine B. Edington, 11. Thomas was soon promoted to clerk and later Master Mechanic, apparently replacing Charles Nesbitt.

The 1940 census lists that he had a 7th grade education working 62 hours a week, 52 of which as a foreman for the railroad. His annual income was $2,600. Kenneth had married his wife Velma and worked as a laborer earning $1,380 per year.

Thomas died from a carcinoma of the pancreas on October 28, 1946, which he had been suffering from for the previous year, while still employed as Master Mechanic. He was buried in the Ely City Cemetery.

Thomas' younger brother George was also employed with the NNRy as a machinist and was promoted to the position of Master Mechanic following his brother's death.

Personal Biography:
Thomas Felix Lake was born to parents John and Mary Bell Lake. He was the sixth child with six brothers and six sisters. He grew up in Evanston, Wyoming, a railroad town that had a big impact on the Lake family as all seven sons worked for the railroad industry, four with the NNRy: John, Thomas, George and Alexander.

On November 28, 1910 at 19 years old, Thomas married Bella Muirhead in Evanston. They had three children: Margaret, Kenneth W. and George Felix.

He died October 28, 1946 due to carcinoma of the pancreas and was buried in the Ely City Cemetery.
