Building Description: 
Located in the East Ely Yard between the coal tower and the bunk house.
Historic Use: 
Storage of blocks of ice cut from ponds in the winter. Ice was used on the passenger cars, cabooses and offices. After being made obsolete by mechanical refrigeration, the building was repurposed rather than being torn down. Doors were cut into the side and the building was used to store roadway machines including hi-rails and speeders.
Current Use: 
Roadway machinery and track department storage.

Construction Method: 
Two story wood-framed building measuring 27-36 feet. The building rests on a concrete foundation and has a gable roof clad in roll roofing. The interior is finished with a dirt floor. The thick walls are filled with sawdust to act as insulation.
Building Service Notes: 
The repurposing of this building is a prime example of why so much of the original railroad remains.
